Buttery shortbread, with strong caramel notes, also notes of syrup & chocolate.

This is a stonking Honduran single origin from the Cocafelol co-op in the mountains of the Ocotepeque Department in western Honduras.

This coffee is produced at an altitude of 1200-1300m, the SCA score is 84.5, it’s a washed processed coffee, and it's organic, fairtrade & Rainforest Alliance certified.

If you’re looking for a tasty yet mellow coffee, with vibrant acidity and super smooth buttery mouthfeel, give this one a try!

How it Tastes

Imagine biting into thick, milk chocolate coated caramel and then into melt-in-the-mouth buttery shortbread. That's exactly what this lovely single origin Honduras reminds me of, hence the "Millionaire's Shortbread" name.

Taste is a subjective thing, everyone has a different palate, and everyone has a different level of palate development, too.

If you've only recently started to "really" get into coffee, and you just don't get these flavour notes that you read on websites like this, or on the flavour notes on bags of speciality coffee that you buy, just stick with it.

If you carry on developing your palate, you'll find at some point that you start to pick out interesting tastes, which may or may not be present in the taste descriptions.

While you once may have said "Meh, just tastes of coffee", you will probably find yourself saying things like "ooh, wow that reminds me of <insert memorable food item here>, and for me - this is just Millionaire's shortbread.

Cocafelol Co-Operative

Cocafelol is a co-operative of around three hundred smallholder producers within the Ocotepeque department in the west of Honduras.

This is a breathtaking mountainous region spanned by a number of biodiverse and important national parks, and the conditions here, particularly the fertile volcanic soil, are amazing for high quality coffee.

The Cocafelol co-op continually works to assist its smallholder coffee farmers to improve the quality and variety of coffee produced, and has invested a great deal into organic production.

Superb

Tried a few beans now and this and chocolate fondant are my favourite for my Delonghi Rivelia as it still packs a nice punch of flavour!

Delicious caramel goodness

Coming from the brownie blend, this took less dialling in, and quickly brought out that sweetness of caramel and we particularly enjoyed it as a flat white, but the espresso was sweet and balanced too.
