Lovely mellow buttery sweet Colombian, makes for a very enjoyable sweet espresso (when dialed in, obviously) and great via most brew methods.

Buttery shortbread, with strong caramel notes, also notes of syrup & chocolate.

This coffee is produced at an altitude of 1250-2150m, the SCA score is 84.5, it’s a washed processed coffee, and it's organic & fair trade certified.

If you’re looking for a tasty yet mellow coffee, with vibrant acidity and super smooth buttery mouthfeel, give this one a try!

Please note: This is a temporary change from our Millionaires Shortbread Honduras, which is currently unavailable.

We're hoping to have the Honduran beans back in some time in March, but in the meantime, this bean produces an almost identical cup profile, you probably won't notice any difference.

How it Tastes

Imagine biting into thick, milk chocolate coated caramel and then into melt-in-the-mouth buttery shortbread. That's exactly what this reminds me of, hence the "Millionaire's Shortbread" name.

Taste is a subjective thing, everyone has a different palate, and everyone has a different level of palate development, too.

If you've only recently started to "really" get into coffee, and you just don't get these flavour notes that you read on websites like this, or on the flavour notes on bags of speciality coffee that you buy, just stick with it.

If you carry on developing your palate, you'll find at some point that you start to pick out interesting tastes, which may or may not be present in the taste descriptions.

While you once may have said "Meh, just tastes of coffee", you will probably find yourself saying things like "ooh, wow that reminds me of <insert memorable food item here>, and for me - this is just Millionaire's shortbread.

Cocafelol Co-Operative

This Organic and Fairtrade Colombian is produced by multiple smallholder and larger farms, throughout the regions of Antioquia, Nariño and Cauca, all along the western side of Colombia.

This coffee is an Excelso, a denomination that details both its size and grade - this means it produces an incredibly clean cup of coffee, with a really nicely sized and uniform bean.

As this uses washed caturra and bourbon varietals, it gives you everything you’d hope for from a Colombian - a nice syrupy body, with upfront juiciness and brightness, and a really clean finish.

Colombia is one of very, very few countries that are able to produce coffee essentially year-round, due to its wide range of climates and altitudes. They’ve worked very hard in the last decade or so to expand their availability of certified coffees, such as Organic and Fairtrade.

Really good coffee and will be coming back for more!

First order and it won't be the last. Got to admit I initially placed the order because I wanted to support the blog because I found it so useful when choosing what machine to go for. I suspected with how much Kev knows his stuff that the coffee itself would be decent. It certainly is and I will certainly be buying again!

Lovely coffee but!

This is the second time I have used coffee works for my bean and I have to say they don't disappoint, but as nice as these beans are they are not quite what I am looking for. Yes the coffee produced is completely drinkable but just not to my taste.
