The Sette started out life as really interesting conicical burr grinder, the interesting bit being that it's the outer burr that spins, not the inner, and the coffee drops directly vertically into your portafilter or dosing cup.
It also started out as grinder with 30 relatively big grinding steps, though, which was quite a big con for anyone trying to precisely dial in for espresso. So, they added a second adjustment ring, producing a huge 270 grind settings.
Features and Benefits:
• Macro and Micro adjustments for 270 grind settings
• 40mm conical steel burrs
• Hopper capacity 285g
• Three programmable doses
The version with out the second adjustment ring is still available, known as the Sette 30, and the second adjustment ring is available as an add on, so you can get the Sette 30 and turn it into the Sette 270.
For me, though, the Sette 270 is an amazing grinder for the money, certainly in terms of the current price. I don't know if this is a time limited price, for some reason all of the Baratza grinders are now being sold at much lower prices by Coffee Hit, who were the main UK distributor before the Breville acquisition.
If these are the new UK RRPs now that they're bringing them over in bigger volumes, then this is exciting times for the UK market where coffee grinders are concerned!
